Book Reviews

  • We loved having you at our school recently. The kids enjoyed the story of Arthur very much and my class (p.3) loved the little robin story. I myself loved the illustrations in the books and it was really interesting to hear how the illustrations get from page to finished picture in the books!
Thanks for coming to read to the children.

  • There are four key ingredients to an amazing children,s book. Imagination. The story needs to grip the child’s imagination. Colour. Children love looking at colours. Pictures. Children love seeing pictures that bring the story to life while listening. And lastly… a brilliant author who knows how to climb into the child’s mind. What little Robin Saw has all four ingredients and all perfectly packaged up in one amazing story. Kids all over the world will fall in love with this story, and with little Robin and his adventures. A very well thought through, brilliantly written and truly magnificently illustrated book to capture children,s and parents hearts. Well done!

  • What an absolutely charming read! Parents, children, teachers and pupils will take great delight in Little Robin’s revelatory discoveries of a world filled with wonder and awe. Paddy Cahill has given us a birds-eye view intertwined with a child’s ideology and his storytelling, humour, word-play and surprises will have readers reaching for What Little Robin Saw over and over again. Schools looking to augment their PDMU and WAU schemes with supportive literature that teaches through Literacy, will have plenty to explore here with relationships, health and safety, life-cycles and environmental issues layered into the narrative. Jonathan Temples illustrations are practically popping with colour and detail and together, author and illustrator have made Little Robin the most endearing feathered friend since Plop, the owl who was afraid of the dark. Bravo!!

  • Tales of King Arthur’ is an original and exciting imagining of the early life and times of the young Arthur. For readers who have read and loved the original story, it is intriguing to explore the experiences he may have had in his youth which led to the fulfilment of his later destiny. We see a personality, hints of the magic and special powers and signs of his growing wisdom and strength.
The illustrations are colourful and full of life; Ingrid has helped bring the whole narrative to life through the illustrations which sit alongside the text. The language is pacy and satisfyingly challenging for young readers. The book opens up possibilities
Congratulations to the whole team and fingers crossed for the sequels which will be impatiently anticipated.

  • I have just finished reading this book to my 9 year old foster daughter. She loved the story-line and she is really looking forward to the next book coming out. What has made this book so different for her was the personal touch of being able to see the pictures of both the author and the illustrator. She is now sitting with the book in front of her attempting to draw the images herself. I would like to congratulate and thank both Patrick and Ingrid on this wonderful book.
